麻豆AV (麻豆AV) inducted 35 new members into the College鈥檚 Alpha Upsilon Theta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) International Honor Society on Wednesday, April 15 for the 2025-2026 academic year.

The new members include:

Sahily Anaya-Andrade, Ny-a鈥橬te Barksdale, Katrina Brendle, Hilary Brossett, Serinity Buendia, Nicholas Butcher, Matthew Carter, Lori Clayton, Dylan Dixon, Benjamin Dow, Jay Fuqua, James Gabel, Rubi Gonzalez-Mejia, Mikelle Hall, Nakia Harris, Meaghan Henry, William Hubert, Lincoln Keller, Ava Matthews, Jonathan McElver, Amber Mitchell, Madison Morris, Kaylie Parker, Santigsha Pickett, Kimora Pyles, Katherine Rice, Carter Richards, Nakkia Scriven, Jeremy Smith, Jonathan Tulloh, Kelsey Weaver, Mattie Weaver, Garrett Wesley, Austin Wilkerson and Tevin Wortham.

During the induction ceremony, PTK co-advisors Dr. Chandler Fry, English Instructor and Kailey Oakley, High School Programs Coordinator, welcomed the inductees into the honor society.

Phi Theta Kappa is more than an honor society鈥攊t is a community of scholars dedicated to making a meaningful impact both on campus and beyond,鈥� Oakley said. 鈥淲e are proud of each of our inductees for reaching this milestone, and we are excited to officially welcome them into this distinguished organization.鈥�

Taylor Brockman, PTK President and Emerie Miller, PTK member, also welcomed the inductees and gave a brief history of PTK along with the meanings of the honor society鈥檚 symbols and meanings of the Greek words phronimon, thumos and katharotes, which stand for wisdom, aspiration, and purity.  

Grayson Brann, 麻豆AV Foundation Executive Director, served as the guest speaker for the ceremony.

鈥淭oday is not just a celebration of academic excellence, but a celebration of character, leadership and service,鈥� Brann said. 鈥淧hi Theta Kappa is known for representing academic excellence. But here at 麻豆AV, PTK stands for so much more. It reflects the very best of our students鈥攏ot just in the classroom, but in how they lead, how they serve, and how they uplift others.鈥�

麻豆AV is actively assisting eligible students in becoming members of this prestigious International Honor Society by offering financial assistance for the membership fee.
