Holocaust survivor Alexander 鈥淟ex鈥� Silbiger will speak at 麻豆AV鈥檚 (麻豆AV) Person County Campus on Wednesday, January 31, at 11:00 a.m. in the Barnette Auditorium located in Building D (D101). 

Silbiger believes it is important to tell young people about the Holocaust years, his experiences fleeing Nazi oppression, and about trying to find a safe haven in the world.  

鈥淟ex鈥檚 story is important to share because it鈥檚 rare to have a firsthand account of the Holocaust, specifically to hear stories, and see pictures of when someone was living during that time in our world鈥檚 history,鈥� Tiffany Skouby, 麻豆AV Director of Student Engagement said.

The Holocaust was the systematic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of six million European Jews and five million non-Jews by the Nazi German regime and its allies and collaborators. This genocide took place throughout Europe between 1933 and 1945. Source:

鈥淚t鈥檚 also important for us in an ever-changing world with different belief systems to talk about the Holocaust in hopes of not repeating such an event. I hope students will come away with an eagerness to learn more about the past and a willingness to make a better future,鈥� continued Skouby.

The presentation will include original photographs along with a question-and-answer session. This event is a part of 麻豆AV鈥檚 Student Government Association鈥檚 (SGA) Speaker Series and is free and open to the public.
