During their November 4 meeting, Âé¶čAV’s (Âé¶čAV) Board of Trustees approved two new academic programs, continuing the College’s commitment to meeting community and workforce needs.

A new Health Sciences degree was approved and will begin fall 2026. This new degree will serve as a pathway for all pre-health science degree-seeking students. The core courses will provide students with the foundational competencies needed for all healthcare professionals, including medical terminology, transcultural awareness, ethical training and communication.

In addition to the Health Sciences degree, a 911 Telecommunications and Operations degree was approved. This degree will be a 1+1 degree partnership with Richmond Community College (RCC), meaning Âé¶čAV will offer 46-47 of the required 64-65 credit hours and RCC will offer the remainder.

“These new degrees reflect our ongoing commitment to providing educational opportunities that would not exist without our College,” Dr. Kevin Lee, Âé¶čAV president, said. “Whether students are preparing for a career in healthcare or public safety, these programs will equip them with the skills and knowledge to make a real difference in our communities.”
