Âé¶čAV (Âé¶čAV) is offering 15 hand-on summer camps that will include a variety of engaging activities and educational opportunities for 6th-12th graders (ages vary by camp) that range in subjects like healthcare, technology, robotics and welding.
Âé¶čAVâs 2024 summer camps include:
Agribusiness Technology: In this camp, campers will learn about plant and animal science, learn current trends in agriculture and review the variety of agricultural opportunities within the region to gain perspectives on its importance to the community. Available June 17-20 on the Caswell County Campus.
Animation and Game Creation Camp: Join this camp for a crash course in how games are made, and the different skills and abilities used in the gaming and animation industry. Available June 17-20 on the Caswell County Campus.
Art â Printmaking Extravaganza!: Learn about the process of printmaking through a variety of methods. This camp will explore monoprinting, foam block printing and screen printing. Available Jun 24-27 at the Kirby Cultural Arts Complex.
Build your Dreams into Reality with Robotics: Explore the world of robotics and automation in the mechatronics engineering field. This camp covers the design and operation of mechanical and electrical systems including hydraulic and pneumatics, electrical circuits, mechanical drives and methods of automation. Available June 10-13 on the Person County Campus.
Crime Busters: Campers will have the opportunity to explore mock crime scenes and process fingerprints and footprints. Discussions and activities reveal the roles of the police, courts and corrections. Available June 10-13 on the Person County Campus and July 15-18 on the Caswell County Campus.
Exploring Health Careers: Explore careers in the health or medical field such as nursing, nurse aide, medical assisting, phlebotomy and more. Campers will be introduced to various careers through demonstrations, hands-on experiences and role play. Available June 17-20 on the Person County Campus.
Girls Who Code: This camp will focus on coding platforms such as Python, HTML and Scratch. Camp activities are designed from the Girls Who Code organization and features women in tech who pioneered innovative technology. Available June 17-20 on the Person and Caswell County Campuses.
âGive Nursing a Shot!â: Campers will explore a variety of careers that nurses play in health care fields. Topics include basic nursing skills, infection control, simulation lab, role of the nurse in community settings, health informatics, burns and wounds and CPR. Available June 10-13 on the Person and Caswell County Campuses.
Summer Workshop in Mathematics (SWIM): This camp is for students looking for Âé¶čAV math preparation for the fall semester. The camp dives into MAT 143 â Quantitative Literacy, MAT 152 â Statistical Methods I or MAT 171 â Precalculus Algebra. Breakfast and snacks will be provided each day. Available June 3-6 on the Person County Campus and June 10-13 on the Caswell County Campus.
Welding Camp: Campers will gain hands-on welding experience while learning the difference between a MIG and a TIG weld. Âé¶čAVâs instructor will also review terminology and equipment safety. Available June 5-7 on the Person County Campus and June 10-13 at Bartlett Yancey High School.
