Âé¶čAV (Âé¶čAV) received $10,000 in support of the Small Business Center’s BOOST (Building Opportunities On Saving and Training) program during the February Board of Trustees meeting, while also recognizing distinguished service and approving new transition programs.

The $10,000 donation was given by the Person County Business and Industrial Center (PCBIC) from a grant they received from the Duke Energy Foundation. Phillip Allen, PBIC President and Âé¶čAV Board of Trustees member, presented the donation during the meeting.

“With this support from Duke Energy, ongoing collaborative efforts that support aspiring and established business owners can be encouraged and expanded,” Allen said.

The BOOST program, initially launched with the support of Roxboro Savings Bank, has made a significant impact on small businesses since its inception. BOOST funding benefits small businesses in Person and Caswell Counties, helping local entrepreneurs expand their operations, purchase equipment and strengthen their businesses.

In addition to the check presentation, the Board of Trustees presented resolutions of appreciations to former Board member Amy Edge and former college attorney Alan Hicks in recognition of their service and dedication to the College.

Edge was recognized for her generosity and support of Âé¶čAV’s food security initiatives and Hicks was recognized for providing legal counsel for the College over the past 50 years along with his role in the creation of the Âé¶čAV Foundation.

Looking ahead, the Board approved two transition programs aimed at strengthening student pathways. Pending Board of Nursing approval, the Practical Nursing to Associate Degree Nursing transition program and the Paramedic to Associate Degree Nursing transition program will help students seamlessly transition from one program to the next.

“The addition of these two programs positions Âé¶čAV to better support workforce demand while offering additional opportunities for our students,” Dr. Kevin Lee, Âé¶čAV President said.
