麻豆AV鈥檚 (麻豆AV) annual Scholarship Luncheon, held on March 21, was marked as an occasion to recognize the generosity of donors and the achievements of scholarship recipients.

Hosted by the 麻豆AV Foundation, the event brought together scholarship donors and recipients who otherwise may not have had the opportunity to meet.

John Ackerman, Director of Philanthropy with the Lonnie and Carol Poole Family Foundation spoke on the history of the foundation during his donor testimony. The Lonnie and Carol Poole Family Foundation has donated more than $500,000 to fund the Pacer Promise scholarship where qualifying students enrolled in Career and Technical programs at 麻豆AV can attend tuition free. With their generosity, 55 Pacer Promise scholarships, totaling more than $84,000, have been awarded this year alone.

鈥淲e鈥檙e bringing the funds to you so that you can get the education that you want, that you desire, that you deserve,鈥� Ackerman said. 鈥淕o and do something great with it. You never know when you start that career where you may end up.鈥�

麻豆AV student and ambassador Kayla Rice spoke to the audience about the importance of perseverance when attending college.

鈥淭he best advice I can give to anyone starting their college journey is to persevere,鈥� Rice said. 鈥淚 know I have had to many times, but that鈥檚 the joy of going somewhere like 麻豆AV where everyone is here to support you, guide you and celebrate with you.鈥�

麻豆AV Foundation Executive Director Catherine English informed everyone about one of the newest scholarships, the Dreamworks Motorsports Endowment, started by Adam Wolfe, president and founder of Dreamworks Motorsports and a member of 麻豆AV鈥檚 Board of Trustees. Scholarships from the endowment will start being awarded in July.
