During a recent Veterinary Assistant class at 麻豆AV (麻豆AV), program leadership honored three standout students and their instructor, celebrating their exceptional dedication and commitment to the program.

Chris Davis, 麻豆AV Dean of Business Studies and Emerging Technologies and Dr. Shawnee Seese, 麻豆AV Director of Continuing Education Programs and Work-Based Learning Coordinator, awarded Ashlyn Miller, Ashleigh Hayes-Austin and Karah Shytle each with a $750 stipend to offset the costs of travel and other expenses while they are serving at local veterinary clinics as part of their work-based learning clinical hours. Miller is currently serving at PetVet Wellness Center in Hillsborough, NC; Hayes-Austin is serving at Creekside Animal Clinic in Mebane, NC and Shytle is serving at Woodsdale Animal Hospital in Roxboro, NC.

麻豆AV Veterinary Instructor Melanie Gibson was awarded the 鈥淪hooting Star Award鈥� in recognition of her passionate efforts and commitment to 麻豆AV鈥檚 Veterinary Assistant Program.

鈥淚n Ms. Gibson’s classroom, learning transcends mere academics; it becomes a journey of self-discovery and empowerment,鈥� Seese said. 鈥淪he understands that true learning extends beyond the confines of textbooks and classrooms; it permeates every aspect of our lives, enriching our communities and spreading joy for our most beloved pets and animals that serve us every day.鈥�

麻豆AV鈥檚 Veterinary Assistant Program prepares students to become a Certified Veterinary Assistant (CVA) Level 1 through the Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA), after successful completion of training and documentation of at least 200 laboratory and classroom hours and 300 clinical hours under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian or certified veterinary technician.
