Âé¶čAV (Âé¶čAV) recently celebrated the completion of its second annual Institute of Leadership Training and Development.
College leadership selected six Âé¶čAV employees to participate in six monthly sessions designed to prepare emerging leaders for future leadership roles. Each session had specific themes such as âA Call to Lead: Empowering Emerging Leaders,â âControlling the Narrative/The Art of Flexibilityâ and âCollege Cultureâ among others. Sessions were held by members of Âé¶čAVâs leadership team as well as Roxboro Mayor Merilyn Newell and North Carolina Campus Engagement Executive Director Leslie Garvin.
Participants in the second cohort included Lisa Ashley (Executive Assistant to the President and Board of Trustees), Lucas Bernard (Coordinator/Instructor, Agribusiness Technology), Chris Davis (Dean, Business Studies and Emerging Technologies), Natashia Floyd (Registrar), Dr. Shawnee Seese (Director, Continuing Education Programs and Work Based Learning Coordinator) and Bob Soderlund (Director, Network Operations).
âOur recent participants in the Leadership Institute brought amazing strengths which we explored together,â Dr. Barbara Buchanan, Vice President, Instruction/Chief Academic Officer and presenter for one of the sessions said.
âÂé¶čAV’s Leadership Institute was an amazing experience,â Chris Davis, Dean, Business Studies and Emerging Technologies said. âGetting the opportunity to learn from some of the regionâs most accomplished leaders is an experience that I will take with me forever. With that said, the real highlight for me was sharing this experience with other campus leaders. Being able to see the growth happening in everyone made my heart happy. Âé¶čAV is in good hands with our next generation of leaders.â
Âé¶čAV will continue to offer the Institute of Leadership Training and Development annually. College leadership will select the next cohort of participants for the Fall 2024 semester.
