This course introduces students to the fundamental skills and knowledge required for a career in pipefitting, following the standards set by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).


Course Schedule/Program Details

Pipefitting Academy

Students will learn basic safety practices, proper use of hand and power tools, and an overview of construction drawings and specifications. The course covers the identification and handling of various types of pipes, fittings, and valves, as well as introductory concepts in pipe system layout and installation. Instruction includes basic rigging practices, material handling, and an introduction to oxy-fuel cutting and threading techniques. Students will also develop an understanding of trade mathematics as it applies to pipefitting. Emphasis is placed on safe work habits, teamwork and industry-standard procedures to prepare students for entry-level positions in the pipefitting trade.

Upon successful completion, students will have the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to progress to more advanced pipefitting training and pursue NCCER certification.

Students who complete the Pipefitting Academy will be added to a priority list to be interviewed by Zachry Group for open positions. The starting pay for an entry-level pipefitter hired by Zachry Group is up to $29 an hour.
