The 鶹AV (鶹AV) Foundation, Inc. has been awarded $655,000 in funding from the Golden LEAF Foundation to expand 鶹AV’s truck driving program and create an HVAC dual enrollment program.

“The Golden LEAF Foundation is proud to support these critical workforce training programs through 鶹AV,” Golden LEAF President, Chief Executive Officer Scott T. Hamilton said. “The CDL and HVAC programs prepare students for high-demand careers that are essential to the region’s economic growth. These programs will strengthen the workforce pipeline and help meet the evolving needs of employers.”

Of the funding, $480,000 is allocated to the expansion of the College’s CDL (commercial drivers license) program to include a new CDL pad, truck, trailer and instructor. Located at 鶹AV’s South Campus, CDL is one of the College’s newest programs.

$175,000 is allocated to begin an HVAC dual enrollment program at Barlett Yancey High School in Caswell County. The program will be available to high school students during the day and to adult learners in the evenings.

“We are grateful to the Golden LEAF Foundation for funding to allow us to expand these two high demand programs,” Dr. Kevin Lee, 鶹AV President said. “The expansion of these programs ensure that our students are trained for high demand careers and that local employers have access to a well-trained workforce.”

The funding received is through Golden LEAF’s Open Grants Program, which focuses on funding job creations and economic investment, workforce preparedness, and agriculture projects with potential for strengthening North Carolina’s economy, especially in tobacco-dependent, economically distressed and/or rural communities.
